SAXS Flashcards
1
Q
Which other protein structure technique is SAXS similar to?
A
X-ray crystallography
2
Q
Does SAXS have a good resolution?
A
No, we only get a shape
3
Q
Where is the protein when using SAXS?
A
In solution
4
Q
If we can only get a shape from using SAXS, why do we use it at all?
A
Can be very powerful when used along with x-ray crystallography or NMR. Pretty useless on its own
5
Q
What are the pros of SAXS?
A
No crystal, protein is in solution, get information on protein flexibility
6
Q
What are the cons of SAXS?
A
Very low resolution, shape only
