What are the four sampling methods?
A
Random, stratified, opportunity and volunteer.

What is a random sample?
A
A sample group of participants which has been selected using an unbiased mechanism i.e. a computer program.

How is a stratified sample selected?
A
Divide the population into stratas (groups which are produced on likeness), and then randomly select from these groups, so ensure representative sample.

What is a opportunity sample?
A
Use of whoever is available for involvement i.e. students on a teacher’s course.

What is a volunteer sample?
A
Asking for volunteers by publishing advert in an appropriate place so people can respond.
