What three things must be considered in regards to ethics?
Informed consent, right to withdraw and debriefing.
What is necessary for a person to give informed consent?
The participant needs to know about all the factors that may affect their willingness to participate. They must also be over 16 years old.
How do you get informed consent from a child?
Their parents or guardians must give informed consent as well as - in some cases - their head teacher.
What is right to withdraw and how must it be made available?
It must be clear from onset that the participants can withdraw from the study at any time. They can also withdraw their data following the study.
What is a debriefing and what must be included?
Participants are thanked. The aim of the study is clarified. Any remaining issues, regarding problems, must be dealt with.
