What are the four ‘C’s’?
Clean, Cross contamination, cooking, chilling.
Why is it important to clean yourself and your area?
To prevent the spread of bacteria.
Rule: tie long hair up
What us the reason for this rule
For hygiene reasons, hair could fall in the food. For health and safety, hair could catch on fire
Rule: wash your hands with hot soapy water
What is the reason for this rule?
The heat of the water and the soap will kill bacteria.
Rule: remove all jewellery
Jewellery carries bacteria that can be passed on to the food and if ring has a stone it could fall out-it’s at choking hazard
Rule: cover and store raw meats on the bottom shelf of the fridge
What is the reason for this rule?
The bacteria in the meat can spread to food on lover shelves and cause cross contamination.
Rule: Use clean equipment for the task
What is the reason for this rule?
To prevent cross contamination and the spread of bacteria
