Chalice
A golden cup, used to hold the Precious Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Paten
A golden disk-shaped plate, used to hold the Precious Body of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Ciborium
A golden chalice-shaped container with a lid, used to hold the hosts (multiple) used for distributing Holy Communion to the Faithful. It may also be a golden bowl (with or without a lid), used for the same purpose
Communion Paten
also known as the communion plate, or chin paten; it is a variation of the paten, but with a handle. Its purpose is to catch particles of the Holy Eucharist that may fall during Holy Communion.
Pyx
A small golden container which usually holds only a small amount of hosts. It is used when Holy Communion is brought to the sick or the homebound.
Monstrance
Also known as an ostensorium, is a golden, ornate vessel used for Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
