sac 3 Flashcards
Positive Impact of conservation on Outdoor Environments
- preservation of sensitive vegetation
- reduce erosion (due to creation of walkways, paths)
- reintroduction of species into areas they originally inhabited
Negative Impact of conservation on Outdoor Environments
- land clearing due to conservation infrastructure (tracks, walkways,
toilets, buildings) - disruption of habitats
- permanent structures (viewing platforms, information buildings,
barriers/fences)
Conservation
- implementation of management strategies (such as
creation of walking tracks) - revegetation and rehabilitation
- establishment of parks and reserves
Negative Impact of commercial on Outdoor Environments
- mining
- game hunting
- development
Positive Impact of commercial on Outdoor Environments
- tourism resulting in education
Commercial
Commercial activities result in profit or gain - utilising the environment. Include tourism practices, such as surfing, rafting,
horse riding, and rock climbing.
Positive Impacts of recreational activities on Outdoor Environments
- inspiration & creativity (artists have interacted with our outdoor environments, using them for inspiration)
- education (occur through school or group trips)
Negative Impacts of recreational activities on Outdoor Environments
- can cause disturbances in the environment
- can cause pollution
Recreational activities
- hiking
- bush walking
- rock climbing
Community-based environmental action to promote positive human
impacts on outdoor environments.
Trust for Nature
Direct impacts of technology
those caused by the action itself. They occur at the same time
and place and are usually observable. For example wetsuits deteriorating and releasing microplastics into the ocean.
Indirect impacts of technology
those that are caused by the action, but not immediately. They
happen before an event, or later in time but are still reasonably foreseeable. For example the energy and pollution released during manufacturing.
Impacts of Urbanisation on waterways
- disruption of ecosystems
- water pollution
- increased stormwater runoff (flooding)
Impacts of Urbanisation on land
- decrease in biodiversity levels
- habitat loss through
- introduction of weeds
