What is termination?
Termination is the ending of the employment of an employee. Termination can be voluntary or involuntary and is managed by the human resource manager.
Define resignation
Resignation is the voluntary ending of employment by the employee 'quitting' their job. A reason for resignation could be; > To start a new job > Change of lifestyle > Boredom of present job > To start their own business
What is retirement?
Retirement is when an employee decides that they no longer want to be apart of the labour force.
Define redundancy
Redundancy describes a situation when a persons job no longer exists, usually due to; new technology, a change in organisation, a merger or acquisition. Redundancy can be either voluntary or involuntary.
Define retrenchment
Retrenchment is when a business dismisses an employee because there is not enough work to justify paying them.
What is dismissal?
Dismissal occurs when the behaviour of an employee is unacceptable and an organisation terminates their employment.
