God is one
What is God described as
God is described as the CREATOR of the universe
God is described as having the omni-attributes. What are they?
- Omnipotent - All-powerful
- Omniscient - All-knowing
- Omnibenevolent - All-loving
Describe God as the trinity (God the father)
- God the Father - the source of all life, the creator. Everything that exists has been brought into existence by God
Describe God as the trinity (God the Son)
- God the Son - Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man; God incarnated. Through his life, death and resurrection, humanity is saved from sin and the relationship between Gods and humanity is healed.
Describe God as the trinity (God the Holy Spirit)
- God the Holy Spirit - the Paraclete. The spirit of God is the source of wisdom, strength and creative inspiration.
Immanent meaning
Close to people. This finds its ultimate expression in Jesus, who is Emmanuel (God with us)
Transcendent meaning
beyond the physical universe and normal experience.
Interventionist meaning
many believe that God acts in the events of history, and affects the course of events in the physical world.
Creator (analysis)
This helps Christians to feel that they are important and have
meaning and purpose.
God is one (analysis)
Belief in one God helps people to more easily understand the nature of God because there is only one.
Omni-attributes (analysis)
God is all-powerful, all-knowing and all loving. This makes Christians feel important, loved and protected by God.
Trinity (analysis)
Understanding God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit helps us to relate to the different roles within a family
