A

In march 8th 1917 thousands of workers in st petersburg filled in the streets demonstrating against the imperialist government. The tsars troops refused to fire on the people and joinned them. This was now a revolution

Workers and communists stormed the winter palace, many of the guards left there posts to escape or wernt bothered. Some joined the bolshevik uprise.

What was the outcome of the october revolution

A

The bolsheviks had seized power but were not fully control. There were still many oppositions and the parliment was still in a multi-part state.

The provisional government had promised an election for a new constituent to represent them (leader). Lenin was forced to go ahead with this.election however the bolsheviks were doing bad,y and were outnumbered in the constituent assembly.

He was determined to make russia communist so in january 1918 he sent soldiers to the constituent and closed it down taking power.

What were the decrees that lenin passed

A

In 1917,
• Women were declared equal to men.
• Peasants who had a surplus of grain were forced to hand it over to the government so that people in the cities would have enough bread.
• Factories were taken away from their owners and placed under the control of workers’ committees.
• All land was taken away from the Tsar and the old landlords.
• A maximum 48-hour working week was declared for factory workers.
• Money and jewellery in rich people’s bank accounts were taken by the state.
• Rich people were forced to share there houses with poor families

As of rumours of plots to free the imperial famoly, the communists moved the romanovs to a town called Ekaterinburg in the Ural mountains.

On the night of 16th july 1918 secret police officers awoke the tsar and tsarina and there 5 children were brought down into the cellar. They were told it was unsafe upstairs in there beedrooms. When they were all in the cellar they opened fire.

The corpses were driven off in a lorry to be thrown down a deep mine shadt but the lorry got stuck in mud. They were burried in the ground with sulphuric acid on there faces so they couldnt be recognised.
