8th november 1923 The germans were angry at the government for the lack of action they were taking. Hitler decided to stage a ‘putsch’ in Munich, and he, the Nazi and the SA tried to overthrow the government. But he and others were shot and imprisoned instead

Hitler is sent to prison for trying to overthrow the government. Because of this he got alot of press coverage, especially when he decided to write a book about his thoughts, ‘Mein Kampf’

The Reichstage (german parliment building) is set on fire and the nazis point there finger at the communist party. Hitler creates an ‘enabling law’ in march 1933 which allows him to make up laws in an emergancy. He bans other political parties

Hitler creates the Gestapo, a secret police to do his bidding and capture political enemies. He sets up the first concentration camps for them
