1936 March - german troops semt to re-occupy the Rhineland (ignors the treaty of versailles)

1937 hitler helps the soamish dictator Franco win the civil war in spain, some people believe it was so he could test out weapons and aircraft

1938 march hitler demands austria to join with germany (ignoring the treaty if versailles)

1938 september hitler declared he was prepared to occupy the Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia in order to protect german soeaking people there. He was allowed to do so but he could not take any more of czechoslovakia (MUNICH AGREEMENT)

1938 september ignors the munich agreement and invades czechoslovakia

1939 september hitler invades poland and demands the port of Danzig to be returned to germany and poland return to the polish corridor

A

  • gave hitler the advantage and prepare for war, had more time to re arm before invading poland

Advantages of appeasment

A
  • it did delay the war
  • gave time for britan to re arm and be ready fir a full scales war
  • appeasement was popular as amny people were scared of the spread of communism more, a strong germsny could prevent communist expantion
  • it was a reasonable policy as the treaty of versailles was bery hard
