The great depression ment the US withdrew loans to germany and germany was bankrupt and many people had to shut down businesses and became unemployed, hitler however brought solutions to this and offered employment annd promised a better economy

A

The SS, it grew into a huge organisation, jews, communists and any opposition to the nazis were sent to concentration camps. These isolated prisons had people be tortured and forced to do hard labour

However the force most people feared was the gestapo - hitlers secret police. They tapped telephones and spied on peole, anyone who critisised was in fear of arrest.

  • only films carrying the nazi message were shown in the cinemas
  • no books were published without Goebbels permission
  • no one was allowed to listen to foreign radio signals

  • rallies and parades were organised to showcase nazi strength

A

He knew it was important for germanies young people to be loyal to the nazis

  • they had lessons on the rise of the nazis and the evils lf communism. In biology pupils learnt how germanic people, aryans, were superior to other races - teachers who didnt support the nazis were sacked.

A

Before 1933 most working class people didnt support the nazis, hitler new he had to control these people, especially the 6 milion unemployed.

After 1934 - more people were given jobs in the armed forces, new roads and buildings constructed all over germany,

Hitler even started making Volkswagen beetle cars, nicknamed ‘the peoples car’
