Appropriate support system

A frame
Canes/poles 2-2.4m long and 1-2 plants per cane
Horizontal canes run along ridge and are tied to keep frame rigid
Canes should be 60cm apart between the rows and 30-60cm apart in a row.
Wigwam/teepee
4 2-2.4m canes tied together at the top.
Canes are spaces 30-60cm apart with 1 plant per cane

Direct sowing
A
Seeds sown in may/June using a dibber or trowel.
Seeds sown at base of each cane 30-60cm apart 5cm deep.
Seeds covered with soil, labelled and watered.

Aftercare
A
Keep well watered
Control pests - slugs and black bean aphid
Encourage young plants to climb support structure
Remove weeds
Pinch out top of plants when reach top of canes
