How to grow
A
Deep sandy loam with no stones is ideal.
If soil is clay, heavy, stony or shallow consider growing in pots or grow smaller varieties.
Early carrots sown Feb/mar under cloches or protection.
April to July main growing season.
Sow direct
Sow seeds thinly, 1cm deep, 15-30cm apart.
Be careful not to crush foliage when weeding as can attract carrot root fly.

Harvesting and storage of carrots
A
Best harvested when young and tender 12-16weeks after sowing.
Best eaten fresh out the ground but will keep for a couple of weeks in the fridge.
Can be blanched and frozen for longer storage
