Abusive Treatement;
Officer/employees will not use any indecent, profane, or unnecessarily harsh language nor abuse the dignity of anyone.
Borrowing;
Will not borrow from any off/employee anything from anyone; or borrow from any liquor establishment or assign salary to money lender, sell or assign wages or give any power of attorney for collection.
Conduct Prejudicial to Public Peace or Welfare;
Will not not purposely commit an act to disrupt public tranquility or safety without just cause.
Conduct Unbecoming an Officer;
Includes which brings the Department into disrepute or reflects discredit upon the officer as a member of this Dept. , or impairs the operation or efficiency of the officer.
Controversial or Disparaging Remarks;
will not make any controversial or disparaging remarks against any race, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or sexual preference of any person or group.
Criticism and Malicious Gossip;
will not criticize any officer/employee, except in the line of duty as superior to a subordinate. Nor maliciously gossip of anyone or anything in department. Nor will cause to discredit, lower, or injure morale of personnel of the dept.
Abuse of Dept Property;
Intentionally, negligently abusing, misusing, damaging or losing dept property or equpt. If dept property is found damage/lost and not reported, the last person using the property maybe charged and held responsible for damages.
Use of Dept. Telephones;
not to be used for transmission of private messages w/o permission of CO. CO must also give permissions for any official toll calls.
Use of Dept Vehicles;
Must have CO permission first, if not assigned, except in emergencies. Will not be used for personal business or pleasure.
Discourtesy;
will not be rude, impolite, contemptuous, or insolent to any employee, member or the public
False Info of Records
will not make or submit any false or inaccurate reports knowingly.
Gambling;
will not participate in nay illegal game of chance or card playing, or illegal gambling in any police, building, station or elsewhere.
Gross Incompetence;
No off/employee will perform any act or duty in such a manner as to be construed as blatantly incompetent or malfeasant.
Impaired condition;
No off/employee will permit another off/employee to start or continue their duty when that person is not fit by means of physical, mental, emotional, or impaired condition. All such observations will be reported to OIC.
Improper Associations;
Officer will avoid voluntarily maintaining or establishing relationships w/persons whom they know or should know are persons under criminal invest./indict. or have reputation to be involved in felony or criminal behavior, except in performance of official duties, w/ approval from either CO of Chief, or unavoidable if a family member.
Improper Intercession;
Off/employee will not intercede nor cause another person to intercede w/ superior officers in the dept for preferential treatment in their behalf.
Incompetence;
will maintain sufficient competency to perform their duty and to assume the responsibilities of their position. Examples; lack of knowledge of application of laws to be enforced, unwillingness/inability to perform assigned tasks, failure to conform to work standards by grade/rank/position, poor repeated evals/repeated infractions of rule and regs
Incurring Dept Liability;
Off/employee will not incur a liability chargeable to the Dept w/o prior knowledge and consent of the chief.
Insubordination;
off/employees will not refuse or fail to obey a lawful order issued by a superior officer.
Interfering w/ court of justice;
will not take part or be connected w/, either directly or indirectly, any compromise or arrangement w/any person for the purpose of permitting an accused person to escape the penalty of their wrongdoing; or seek a continuance to otherwise interfere w/the course of justice. All negotiations will be disclosed to proper superior or officer of the court or hearing.
Possession, Use of Intoxicating bev/drugs;
officer/employee will not while on duty, consume, drink, bring into the dept. any drug/alcohol. Will off duty not carry a weapon while under the influence or wear a uniform in public view, will not report to duty with intoxicants on their breath, will not off duty , render oneself unfit to report for duty.
Loitering;
will not loiter in liquor stores, businesses or public places unless assigned.
Neglect of Duty;
Includes; absent from duty w/o leave, leaving post w/o being relieved, failing to take appropriate police action when any crime, public disorder or other incident requires police attn, failing to give suitable attention to their performance of duty.
Personal Business;
Officers/employees, while on duty, will not conduct personal business, purchase alcohol, purchase conspicuous amount of merchandise, unless required for duty.
