Where an accident arising directly or indirectly from the operation of a vehicle occurs to a person or vehicle, the driver or rider of that vehicle must do what three things?
Section 22 (1) LTA 1998
Stop their vehicle
Ascertain whether anyone is injured
Render all practical assistance to anyone who is injured or killed
Where a crash involves injury or death, the driver or rider must do what?
Section 22 (3) LTA 1998
Report the accident to the nearest officer or police station as soon as practically possible and no later than 24 hours after the crash, unless the person is not capable due to injuries.
Where a crash involves damage to an occupied vehicle or damage to other property belonging to another person what must the driver or rider do?
Section 22 (4) LTA 1998
Within 48 hours report to the owner the drivers name, address, rego and crash location or if owner cannot be id’d or contacted the local police station within 60 hours.
Unless the driver or rider is incapable with injuries.
