Juliet kills herself with a dagger, a phallic symbol which could be seen as representing re-consummating the marriage. this highlights their transcendental love and their death cements this eternal devotion.

shakespeare is commenting on superficial love as she describes the good parts of him as physical things or perhaps she is still in the sex orientated state of mind she was earlier. they may express the dichotomy of love while it his pure and ‘beautiful’ it can be the opposite.’bought the mansion of a love but not possessed it’ shows she likens the consumption of the marriage to possessing a mansion which could be referencing the objectification of women and instead of it being based on mutual affection its more transactional.

some think their love is unsettled and corrupted by violence but others think it fuels it making it more powerful. the amalgamation of love and violence characterises the play as a tragedy.
