The poor people in Rome.

A large house also known as a villa where the patricians lived.

A hall in front of the front door open to the sky.

A shallow pool.

A walled garden.
Insulae
Blocks of flats where plebeians lived.
Thermopolia
Shops that lined the street where plebeians got their food. ( like a takeaway )
Oratory
The art of public speaking.
Toga
The official dress of the roman citizens. It was like a dress draped around the body.
Stola
A long woollen tunic that girls wore.
Dole
Handouts of bread from the government that Romans depended on to survive.
Lares
Household gods that each family had. They believed they were their ancestors looking over them.
Catacombs
Underground graveyards where the dead were buried.
Caladium
A room in the Roman baths with a tub of hot water in the room.
Frigidarium
A cold room in the Roman baths with a cold pool.
Circus maximus
A racetrack where chariot reces were held.
Colosseum
Where Gladiator fights were held.
Gladiator
People who fighter animals or other people. Usually slaves.
