Opposition
a body part being across from another part at nearly 180 degree angle
Extension
be straightened
Flexion
bending at the joint
TMJ
protrusion: push out lower jaw
retrusion: tuck in lower jaw
lateral motion: slide jaw from side to side
C spine
flexion: restchin on chest
extension: return head to midline
hyperextension: tilt head back
rotation: turn head to look to each side
Shoulder
flexion: raise straight arm above head
extension: return arm down to side of body
hyperextension: move straight arm behind body

abduction: move straight arm laterally from side to a position above the head, palm facing away from head
adduction: move straight arm downward laterally and across front of body as far as possible
Elbow
flexion: bend elbow, move lower arm toward shoulder
extension: straighten lower arm foward downward
Wrist
flexion: bend wrist so fingers move toward inner aspec of forearem
extension: straighten hand
hyperextension: bend wrist so figners move back as far as possible
radial flexion: move wrist laterally toward thumb
ulnar flexion: move wrist laterally away from thumb
Hand and Fingers
flexion: make a fist
extension: straighten fingers
hyperextension: bend fingers back as far as possible
abduction: spread fingers apart as far as possible
adduction: bring fingers together
Tumb
flexion: move thumb across palmar surface of hand
extension: move the thumb away from hand
opposition: touch thumnb to tip of each finger on same hand
Hip
flextion: move straigh leg forward and upward
extension: straight leg down
hyperextension: move leg behind body
circumduction: move leg backward in a circle
Knee
flexion: bend knee to bring heel back toward thigh
extension: straighten each leg, place foot beside other foot
Ankle
plantar flexion: point toes downward
dorsiflexion: point toes upward
Foot
eversion: turn sole of foot laterally
inversion: turn sole of foot medially
