Committees can be very effective as these monitor the performance of departments within the government and ensures they are doing what they said they would.

What is holding the government to account?
MPs have the opportunity to question Government Ministers directly about their decisions and policies. MPs can even ask the PM every Wednesday at noon.
What is an example of holding government to account?
LOTO Kemi Badenoch MP gets to ask 6 questions weekly, and often challenges Starmer on stuff like the Winter Fuel Payment.
