What is the Right to Vote?

A

One of the most important ways people can participate is by voting. They do this usually at election time when the whole country is given the opportunity to choose who they want to represent them and become their MPs. You must be 18 and registered to vote.

A

The 2024 UK Parliament General Election Turnout was 60%.

In 2019 it was 67.3%.

A

Individuals in Scotland and the UK have the right to protest.
They can hold demonstrations against laws that they disagree with.

You must express yourself within the law though/

A

People who disagreed with the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, such as pressure groups “Fans against Criminalisation”, held marches and demonstrations in Glasgow as part of their protests against this law.
