Intro
he studied the relations between black and white adolescents in an urban environment (South London) and was concerned with racism
Findings
a strong link between language & ethnic identity for this generation & that their language use combatted racism through being virtually indistinguishable from other locally born British whilst speaking local English. But they could mark themselves out & show solidarity with other afro-caribbeans by using the local Jamaican creole.

white youths use creole form to show off, verbally and socially

Evaluation weakness’
only studied in south London, youths, one class and didn’t include other ethnicities like Asian
