a DSC specification standard that meets the minimum requirements VHF-DSC on non-pleasure craft not required to carry Class A or B. Not all carry IMO approval.

The international method of words spelling to be used when communications may be difficult this method should be used when communicating the station’s name
Position
The location of the vessel with reference to land positions aids to navigation etc.
Priority
The order in which radio communications may proceed
Procedures
The order and precise method of conducting radio communications according to ITU regulations
Profane language
Language which is offensive and blasphemous
Radar
A device for finding range and direction by ultrahigh frequency by point to point radio waves which reflect back to their source and reveal the position and nature of the objects sought
Radio operator
The person certified and authorized to transmit and receive radio communication of a licensed station
Radio silence
While a distress situation is in progress all stations must maintain radio silence unless they are involved in distress traffic as mandated on 2182 kHz
Radio telephone
A type of electronic equipment that receives and transmits the waves involved in radio voice communications
