What type of signals have precedence over a safety signal?
Distress and Urgency
Upon hearing a Safety signal, what shall stations do?
Change to the indicated working frequency and listen until you are satisfied that message does not apply to you.
What is the Safety signal and how many times is it repeated?
Sécurité, repeated three times.
When is the safety signal sent compared to the safety call?
It is sent before the call.
What does the safety signal indicate?
It indicates a message about an important navigational or meteorological warning.
On what frequency should the safety signal, call and message be sent out?
The signal and call go out on channel 16, the message on a suitable working channel. (i.e. ch 06)
How do listeners know what channel the message will be on?
The channel number is announced at the end of the call.
Who are safety messages addressed to?
Normally, to All Stations, occassionally, to a specific station such as a Coast Guard Radio Station.
What channel is most suitable for a safety message?
Channel 06
How would Seadog indicate that a safety message was forthcoming?
