Robin was carried a good way down the river because there was a strong current in the river and he got pulled along with the strong flow of the river.

Robin chose to swim with the tide because he could not have struggled against the strong current of the river, after the fight with John. He must’ve been tired also. He knew he could swim to the bank a little further down the river.
Why did Robin want to shake hands with John little and become his friend?
Robin wanted to shake hands with the stranger because he felt that the stranger was a brave man and a good fighter. He had fought fairly and Robin did not want to quarrel with him anymore.
What made the merry men come running to Robin?
The merry men came running to Robin when he blew his bugle horn.
Why did they want to drag John little to the water and drown him?
The merry men saw a huge cut on Robin Hood’s forehead and his men understood that there had been a fierce fight. Robin hood told them that the two men had a fight and that John had tumbled him into the river. When the merry men heard this, they wanted to drag you on John little to the river and drown him.
