The water brought from home by the children got finished before they reach the school on hot summer days, we all need more water in summer. The children felt hot and thirsty often and kept drinking water.

The toilets were locked because there was not enough water in the school tank to keep the toilet clean and hygienic.
Why was Himmat’s father able to help Himmat?
Himmat’s father was able to help him because he knew what needed to be done to get a water supply restored to the school. He told Himmat that the underground water supply was not reaching the taps even after using pumps. He suggested that the school should get a pump of its own. This idea help Himmat think about further plans.
How was Himmat Ram honoured by his village and his country?
Himmat was honoured by the people of of his village when they donated money after watching the play about the thirsty boy. His headmaster also said that the honour of switching on the new pump should go to Himmat. Himmat also won a special award on 26 January: The Good Action Award.
