What is the golden hour?
The likelihood that prompt medical attention may prevent the death of a casualty who has suffered a traumatic injury is within the first hour. This is referred to as the golden hour.
Must aim for definitive medical care one hour from incident.
What are the conditions for an immediate release from an RTC?
This may be because of:
• A medical requirement
• Fire
At the request of the medical team in attendance.
If the vehicle is alight or parked in a garage, which is alight.
• Submerged
• Toxic atmosphere
• Hazardous materials
• Police directive
