BA Flashcards
What is the minimum gauge reading required for a re-entry?
190 bar
BA team leader must take into account various factors when assessing working duration, what are they?
-The air taken to reach the scene of operations.
-Work rate at the scene of operations
-Conditions within the incident that reduce working duration and cause physical exhaustion.
-The possibility that conditions on the exit route may have deteriorated.
-Information received from entry control and other teams.
-That consumption rates on the way out will be higher due to the natural effects of physical exertion or increased exertion, for example, exit from a basement.
BA team leaders must ensure what?
BA team leaders should:
• Ensure that BA wearers committed as a BA team remain together and exit at the same time and place. BA teams must never be split.
• Ensure that the BA team is fully briefed before entry and is debriefed on exit.
• Co-ordinate Bodyguard and telemetry signal checks ensuring that the BA team returns to the entry control point before the low pressure warning/whistle operates.
• Exchange information on Bodyguard readings with the ECO if loss of telemetry signal occurs.
• Be aware of adverse and changing conditions (e.g. ashover, backdraught) and monitor debilitating effects on BA team members.
• Relay information on conditions, premises layout, hazards and team status to entry control.
• Decide whether to continue to carry out operations should radio communication breakdown (in the knowledge that a BA team will be committed to investigate).
• In the event of loss of both telemetry and radio communication the BA team must withdraw.
• Prompt task rotation and air management. Objectives de ned in pre-entry brie ngs should be re-assessed in the light of the prevailing conditions if necessary.
• On deciding to return to the ECP, prompt all BA team members to operate the withdrawal button on the Bodyguard. It is good practice to contact the ECO by radio to con rm this operation.
• Communicate accidental actuation of the withdrawal button to the ECO. In this circumstance, the BA team may continue to complete their task.
What pieces of equipment is the entry control operative responsible for?
Entry control board Eco tabard Evacuation whistle China graph Main guideline tallies Guideline IEC pack- difib and o2 cylinder Hand held radio Ecb tripod, adapter and bracket
What are the 3 methods of second set procedure?
Method 1- face mask and ldv undamaged/ inline connection to second set
Method 2- uses 1m rescue hose/ 2nd line from second set to 2nd line to recipient
Method 3 face mask swap to second set
What is the minimum pressure required to pass through entry control with a BA set?
240
The low pressure warning operates at what pressure? This gives you how long?
84 bar for the electronic whistle

Inform ECO immediately
BA wearer can continue to operate the set normally
Following withdrawal from the incident and BA set should be taken “off the run” and replaced onto the appliance to recharge
If a BA team member has an “accident actuation” of their BA set bodyguard ADSU. The eco must do what?
If a BA team member has an “accident actuation” of their BA set bodyguard ADSU. The eco must do what?
Inform other BA teams of accidental actuation
Instruct the BA team to stay under air
Cancel the ADSU warning from their BA tally in the ecb as the wearer reports back to entry control
Manually log off the BA wearer and re insert tally into same position on ecb
