What are the responsibilities of passengers in a car?
- Buckle up (before car starts)
- Children under 4 must use a car seat (must be properly installed and fit child properly)
- Kids under 13 must sit in the back so that they aren’t injured by the airbag
- Keep the doors locked
- Do not lean out of the window
- Do not distract the driver
What rules must be followed for safe walking?
- Stay out of the road, and walk on a pavement
- Where no pavements, walk facing oncoming traffic
- Only cross road at safe places: pedestrian crossing/ traffic lights etc
- When crossing : look LEFT + RIGHT + LEFT
- Walk FAST not RUN when crossing
- Under 7 do not cross road alone
- Kids should be taken to school by responsible adult
- When walking along road, wear reflective armband

- A bicycle is a vehicle, and must obey road signs
- Traffic lights apply to cyclists
- Cycling lanes must be used if available
- Footpaths are for pedestrians NOT cyclists
- Bicycle must be the right size
- Check LIGHTS , BREAKS, TYRES, REFLECTORS in good condition
- Be HIGHLY visible – REFLECTIVE gear
- Wear HELMET
What are the golden rules for cycling?
- Always wear a helmet

- Always cycle in single file
- Check for open car doors and oncoming traffic
- Never hold onto moving vehicles

- Give motorists COMMANDS that they must OBEY
- Generally ROUND in shape

- Warn of possible danger on the road
- They always have a triangle with the relevant danger
