Rivers Fieldwork Flashcards
Location
Dorking
Sites
Cromshere
Cross ways Farm
Abinge Hammer
Sampling techniques used were
Stratified for places in different courses
Systematic - depth by measuring ruler in ten intervals
Random - width
We presented our data through
Scatter graphs with lines of best fit
Risk assessment (risk and hazard)
Losing children - keep an eye out - 2
Drown - low water level - 2
Falling - told to be sure footed - 4
Disease in river - antibiotic hand sanitiser - 2
How did we collect our results
Hydroprop flow meter for velocity
Tape measure for width
Depth - metre ruler
What made our results reliable
We took an average for depth from ten measurements and we took velocity three measurements for an average
Velocity using machine rather than floating and timer so less human error
What made our results unreliable
Ineptitude Not professional Velocity depends on storm Only went on one day which may have been an anomaly Depth may be in rock so shorter Width may not have held it taut
Hypothesis
Why and how the channels characteristics change and affect people and property
