risk factors - injury Flashcards
1
Q
intrinsic risk factors
A
- risks or forces from within the body
- individual variables
- training effects
2
Q
extrinsic risk factors
A
- risks or forces from outside the body
- poor technique/ training
- incorrect equipment/ clothing
- inappropriate intensity, duration or frequency of activity
3
Q
warm up
A
- 20-45 mins
- gradually increases in intensity
- 3 stages:
- HR raising activity
- stretching + mobility exercises
- sport specific drills
= improves muscular contractions
= improves elasticity of muscles, tendons + ligaments
= increases enzyme activity
= diffusion gradients
= metabolic activity
4
Q
cool down
A
- 20-30 mins
- gradually decreases in intensity
- moderate-intense activity around 45-55% of VO2 max
= to maintain HR, VR + blood flow to remove any waste products - stretching exercises
= reduce muscle tension
= increase muscle relaxation
= gradually lower muscle temp - removal + reconversion of lactic acid
- reduced DOMS
5

6
Q
training effects - intrinsic risk factors
A
