Clinical indications of oblique chest
A
- to investigate pathology involving the lung fields, trachea and mediastinal structures.
- Determine the size and contours of the heart and great vessels.

Patient positioning of oblique chest
A
- 35 x 43 cm IR is used
1. Patient erect, rotated 45 * with the left anterior aspect of the shoulder in contact with the IR for LAO, or 45* with right anterior aspect in the IR.RAO - Patients arm in contact with it is flexed and hand placed on hip with palm facing out.
- Opposite arm is raised to clear lungs field and hand on head or on chest for support.
- The patient’s chin is raised

Centering point of oblique chest
A
Center between the midline and lateral aspect of the patient at the level of T6-7( 8 to 10 cm) below level of vertebra prominence
