Radiograph identification Flashcards
Important information used to identify radiographs.
- Date
- Patient details
- Anatomical marker
- institution identity
- Patient position
Anatomic side marker rules
Should not obscure the anatomy
Should placed at the collimated boarder of the radiograph
Should not obscure patients information.
In PA projections, the markers should be reversed
In radiographs that show both side, include the right marker only
Specific marker placement recommendations
- for lateral projections of the head and trunk, mark the side closest to the IR
- For oblique projections that include both sides, mark the side closest to the IR , e,g if its the right side put R.
Placement and orientation of anatomy on the
image receptor
- long axis of the anatomy should be parallel to the long axis of the IR
- the anatomical structure must be centred on the IR
- The body must be adjusted in position interms of oblique projections.
Conditions through which CR is angled
- when avoiding superimposition of over and underlying structures.
- when avoiding superimposition of curved structures.
- when projecting through angled joints e.g knee and lumbosavral joints.
- when projecting through angled structures.
FFD affects which factors
i. Magnification of the anatomy on the image
ii. The spatial resolution
iii. The radiation dose to the patient
Pre-exposure Instructions and technical factors
After positioning the patient should be given chance to practice the instructions given.
