Rhythm Strips Flashcards
What does the P wave represent?
Atrial depolarization. This is the S2 sound.
What does the PR interval represent?
Conduction Delay through the atria, av node and bundle of his.
What does QRS represent?
Depolarization of the ventricles. The S1 sound occurs right after the QRS complex.
There will be an arrow pointing at a wave and you will be asked to identify what wave it is and what is happening with the heart in that wave.
ok
What is happening during the T wave?
Repolarization of the ventricles.
What happens during the U wave?
Repolarization of the Perkinje system.
The “tiny boxes” represent how much time?
0.04 seconds
The “big boxes” represent how much time?
0.20 seconds
5 big boxes represent how much time?
1 second
How many seconds is a normal PR interval?
0.12 - 0.20 seconds
How long should a QRS last?
Less than 0.12
Where would a pacemaker be placed?
on/near SA node
Be able to identify ventricular tachycardia, bradycardia, normal sinus rhythm, etc.
ok
Be able to count the beats per minute when looking at a rhythm strip
ok
What is the MCL1 for?
It is best for helping you identify the presence or absence of P waves to distinguish PVC’s from atrial beats that conducted aberrantly.
