RHR Flashcards
Purpose of RHR
- Removes residual heat from reactor core and the RCS during plant cooldowns
- Transfers water from the RWST to the reactor cavity prior to refueling operations. (Fast fill)
- Transfers water from the refueling cavity back tot he RWST after a refueling operation.
- Supports CVC system operations (forced letdown)
RHR pumps take suction from?
- The RWST for a borated water source during an accident.
- The CV sump to recirculate and cool spilled water after an accident
- RCS lop 2, Hot leg for normal core cooling
RHR pumps discharge to?
- All 3 RCS loops cold legs
- Back to the SI and CV spray pump suctions
- Alternate to SI pump B&C suctions
- To the CVC system (HCV-142)
- Recirc back to the RHR pump suctions
- RWST
RHR pump suction valves
RHR-752A/B
power and locations
precaution?
- MCC-5 A
- MCC-6 B
- In RHR pump room
- Must be manually moved on its closed seat prior to opening the valves
RHR pumps
Sump pump
power supplies
Seal cooling?
- RHR pump A -E1/MCC-1 for sump pump
- RHR pump B-E2/MCC-2 for sump pump
- Seal cooling provided by CCW
RHR pump room cooling
-HVH-8A and 8B
-8A is in Bravo pump bay
-8B is in Alpha pump bay
If one is out of service, associated Pump is also inoperable. Cooled by Service water
RHR Hx cooled by?
-CCW on shell side
RH-744A/B RHR loop discharge to RCS isolation valves.
How does it open?
-SI signal
Core Cooling and Startup RHR-750 and 751 (RHR pump suction from loop2 hot leg)
powered by? concerned with?
- Powered by
- 750-MCC-5
- 751-MCC-6
- Smart fire concern
During startup or cooldown, RHR-750 and 751 can only be opened when RCS pressure is? and?
From RC Loop 2 Hotleg
- <445psig and SI-862A/B are closed, with power and SI-863A/B are closed, with power,(no power they are sensed as open.)
- Protects downstream RHR
RHR loop temperature control with FCV-605 and HCV-758
-FCV-605 keeps steady flow, Moving HCV-758 increases or decreases flow through RHR Hx thus increasing or decreasing temp but not flow
