Pressurizer and PRT Flashcards
Pressurizer and PRT purpose
-To maintain the RCS pressure during steady state and transient operations.
Remember Pressurizer spray lines come from?
Surge Line?
- Spray lines from cold leg of loops 2 & 3
- Surge line comes from hot leg of loop 3
Pressurizer Heaters and power supplies.
How many kW when on emergency power?
-Control Bank - 480V Bus 2B
-Backup Group A 480V Bus 1
-Backup Group B 480V Bus 2A
(2B or not 2B)
- 150Kw when on emergency power/E1,E2
- Controlled from Rod Control Room (Breakers)
PZR spray info
- Narrow spray to prevent spray from contacting PZR wall, to help with thermal shock.
- PZR spray valves are designed to prevent the PZR pressure from reaching the lift setpoint of the PZR PORV’s. (so steam doesn’t)
Spray Bypass Valves
- A small continuous spray flow (.5gpm) is provided by the throttle (needle valves) valves which bypass the spray valves.
- Ensures PZR liquid is in chemical equilibrium with the rest of the RCS
- Prevent thermal shock/water hammer of the spray piping.
PZR safety valves
-Provide RCS overpressure protection by relieving steam to the PRT. Lift at 2485psig.
Reactor TRIP pressure
-2376psig
PRT cover gas and pressure?
-Nitrogen Cover gas eliminates air from tank to prevent explosive combination with hydrogen from RCS. Nitrogen regulator Maintains 3psig.
