Q

Bearing Oil lift pump purpose and infromation

A
  • Sends oil to upper and lower shoes of thrust bearing simultaneously.
  • Lubricates the thrust bearings
  • RCP must not be started unless oil lift pump has been running for 2 mins.
  • Must have lift pump running and 600psig to start a RCP.

Q

RCP flywheel

A
  • Adds inertia to increase RCP coastdown time
  • Reduces consequences of a LOCA (DNB concerns)
  • Also houses an anti-reverse rotation device. (no check valves in the system)
