What was the original government model called that the founding fathers first experimented with after the Revolutionary War? What were some of the MAJOR problems with it?
The original government was the articles of confederation. There was no Executive or Judicial branch. It was weak, they couldn’t collect taxes so they were broke after the war. Each state only got one vote no matter their population. Any state could veto an amendment.
What did the Federalists and Anti-federalists want?
The federalist wanted to ratify the constitution and the Anti-federalist did not want to ratify the constitution but they did want a bill of rights.
What were the Federalist essays? Who wrote them?
They were the way they tried to convince the people to ratify the constitution to make the constitution stronger. Hamilton, Maddison, and John Jay
What eventually appeased the Anti-federalists in order to gain their support in ratifying the Constitution?
The Federalist agreed to include a bill of rights which h appeased the Anti-federalist and gained their support for ratifying the constitution.
Why did the founding fathers choose a republic over a direct democracy?
They were afraid that the majority would take rights away from the minority. They also thought it would be a good idea to have some people to temper the mood of the media.
What were the two plans proposed for how Congress would function at the Constitutional Convention? Which plan did they adopt?
New jersey and Virginia plans, they ended up adopted the great compromise, which was a mix of the two plans.
