What was the original government model called that the founding fathers first experimented with after the Revolutionary War? What were some of the MAJOR problems with it?

A

The original government was the articles of confederation. There was no Executive or Judicial branch. It was weak, they couldn’t collect taxes so they were broke after the war. Each state only got one vote no matter their population. Any state could veto an amendment.

A

The federalist wanted to ratify the constitution and the Anti-federalist did not want to ratify the constitution but they did want a bill of rights.

Why did the founding fathers choose a republic over a direct democracy?

A

They were afraid that the majority would take rights away from the minority. They also thought it would be a good idea to have some people to temper the mood of the media.
