What was the Enlightenment? What did it focus on that the Scientific Revolution and Renaissance failed to?
The enlightenment was about applying scientific thinking to the government and society, and the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution did not apply thinking to the way people should be governed.

beloved that people should have a strong central government because humans are bad
Who was John Locke
Thought that people were blank slates, he thought that you need to give up some basic rights to have some basic laws and the government should be there to protect life, liberty, and property.
Who was Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Thought that people were born good and that the government and the institutions are what make people bad so we should get rid of them and have a self government that everyone contributes to the laws.
Who was Montesquieu
He came up with the separation of peers and checks and balances and is the reason we have our government today
