Revision sheet 2 Flashcards
Describe the initial actions in the event of a primary coolant spill (person at the scene)
- Raise the alarm
- Establish a no go area
- Stand still
- Attempt to contain the spill using a spill pack
- MA at the scene will run the particulate monitor
State the function of the electrical generation and distribution system
- To generate power for submarine systems to function whilst at sea and alongside in the event of a ss failure
- receive both AC and DC ss whilst in harbour
- Safely distribute a source of both AC and DC supplies for all SM systems

How many AC and DC shore supply cables can be connected alongside?
8x Shore supply cables AC
4x Shore supply cables DC
What is an electrical audit and when would these be carried out?
An electrical audit is carried out in the event of an electrical failure when losses need to be established
Produce for reducing electrical loads in the event of a reactor scram
- The ships company will switch off all non essential equipment within their compartments
- The amount of load reduction depends on the type of scram
- We only use the EPM for propulsion during load reduction
