A

What is the purpose of taking potassium iodide tablets?
A
They limit the thyroid gland from absorbing radioactive iodine

Procedure for evacuating a contaminated area in the event of a reactor incident?
A
- Stay in the area and raise the alarm to limit the spread of primary coolant
- You will be dressed in PVC overalls and boots by the decontamination team
- When ordered you will be escorted through the SM to the JR heads
- Here you will be monitored by the decontamination team until declared clear by the radiation monitor

Actions in the event of a primary coolant spill (at the scene)
A
- Person at the scene will raise the alarm
- Establish a no go area
- Stand still
- Attempt to contain the spill with a spill pack
- MA will run the particulate monitor
