Review Flashcards
Phosphogen system- time frame and substrate
7-9s
creatine phosphate
How is creatine phosphate transferred into the cell
Creatine kinase can phosphorylate creatine phosphate in the cytosine of the cell and make it into a high energy molecule (CrP)
-CrP then diffuses across the cell membrane into the mm cell where it is broken down and releases phosphate
what is the phosphates system limited by
limited by the rate that creatine can diffuse back into the cytosol and be synthesized back into creatine phosphate (2-3misn)
Krebs cycle nutrient utilization at 30, 50, 80% VO2max
30- free fatty acids
50- glucose and free fatty acids
80- glucose
In terms of weight management what vo2 max do u wanna be at
fat burning zone
-more free fatty acids are mobilized at 50% vo2max but total energy output is lower so have to increase duration
What is a key enzyme involved in cardiovascular disease
CoQ10 (HMG-CoA reductase is an enzyme responsivle for synthesis of coQ10)
What is the mTOR pathway used for
Angiogenesis, tumor formation, insulin resistance, adipogenesis
5 components of mTOR to function
- mTOR and regulator associated pro
- mLSt8
- DEPTOR (interacting pro)
- FKB38
- PRAS40 (proline rich AKT substrate)
5 functions of mTOR complex
- master regulator of growth + metabolism
- Synthesis + organization of microtubules
- Autophagy
- Lipid syntheisis
- mitochondrial biogenesis
What med blocks mTOR function
rapamycin
Key things to optimize mTOR pathway
- increase glucose and insulin by consuming pro
- decrease substrate and shuttle glucose thru glut4
- decrease ATP:ADP ratio
- decrease ox
- increase TNF-alpha
how many ATP can be yielded assuming malate shiuttle is not used
