What is Retrocalcaneal bursitis ?

A

Local inflammation and pain at posterior heel or ankle .

What is Retrocalcaneal bursitis commonly caused by?

A
  • Repetitive trauma or overuse
  • Pressure, athletes wearing tight shoes
  • Wearing high-heeled shoes on a long-term basis may experience increased stretch and irritation of the Achilles tendon

How does RCB develop?

A

Inflammation of the bursa due to irritation can cause synovial cells to multiple, therefore collagen formation and fluid production increases. The bursa becomes filled with fibrin rich fluid.

A

Changing footwear.
