Resuscitation Flashcards

Q
What changes you are going to make if the patient is highly pregnant in cardiac arrest?
A
- High Hand position for chest compression
- Manually displace the uterus to the left
- If difficult to place the apical electrode, use an antero - posterior or bi - axillary electrode position.
- Consider using a tracheal tube 0.5 - 1.0 mm small than usual
- Establish IV access at the level above the diaphragm
- If resuscitation attempts fail to achieve ROSC, consider an immediate caesarean section to deliver the foetus within 5 minutes of the mother’s cardiac arrest.

- Gentle suctioning
- High flow oxygen via tight fitting face mask
- CPAP
- Larson’s manoeuvre (jaw thrust with anterior pressure applied to the ramus of the mandible in the laryngospasm notch)
