TONE - Uterine atony
TRAUMA - Uterine laceration
TISSUE - Retained product of conception

Risk factors for pre-eclampsia

A

HIGH RISK FACTORS

  • Type 1 & 2 DM
  • Autoimmune disease i.e SLE
  • Chronic HTN

MODERATE FACTORS

  • Age > 40
  • First pregnancy
  • Multiple pregnancy
  • Obesity
  • Family history of pre - eclampsia

When would you consider giving MGSO4 in patients with Pre-Eclampsia ?

A

Patient with severe pre-eclampsia and anyone of the following

  • Ongoing severe headaches
  • Visual scotomatas
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Epigastric pain
  • Oliguria
  • Severe HTN
  • Progressive decline in blood lab tests (HELLP syndrome)
