What happens to the display notice if the RP is temporarily absent from the pharmacy?
Remain on display even if there’s a second pharmacist
What are the requirements for the pharmacy record?
Should reflect who the RP is + was at any given time
Made personally by RP
Alterations need to identify when + by whom
What needs to be recorded in the pharmacy record?
RP name
Registration no.
Date + time they became RP
Date + time they stopped being RP
If absent:
- Date
- Time RP left premises
- Time returned
How long is the pharmacy record kept?
5 years
What is the maximum period that the RP can be absent for?
2 hours btw midnight and midnight
What is the total period of absence for (all) the RPs during one 24 hour period for 1 pharmacy?
2 hours
What are the requirements in place for when the RP is absent?
Only absent if pharmacy can continue to run safely + effectively
Remain contactable w/ staff + able to return w/ reasonable promptness
If unable to remain contactable, must arrange for another pharmacist to be contactable + available to provide advice
What can’t be done when the RP is absent?
Sell P med
Hand out dispensed + bagged prescriptions
Revalidation: first year
Submit 4 CPDs – 2 must be planned learning activities
Revalidation: second year
