Emergency Procedure Fire: 🔥FIND INFORM RESTRICT EXTINGUISH / ESCAPE * Fire Doors / Water tight doors * Fire Dampers (where appropriate) * Pumps Started * Shut off fuel / isolateelectricity * Shut off A/C * Manoeuvre vessel (Smoke, Nav Dangers etc) * Prepare BA to Investigate * Boundary Cooling * Stability * Guest / Passenger / Non Essential crew (Evacuate?) * LSA ? ABANDON? May Day? * Start High Fog (If not already running) * Document, Evidence Collect - MAIB Consult: * Fire Plan * SMS * Bridge Procedures Guide (Checklist C5)

Emergency Procedure Collision:
* Watertight Doors (Maybe before if collision inevitable)
* Stop Main Engines ( or stay embeded)
* Watertight integrity / Damage Assessment & Control
* Contact Other V/L & Decide to stay embedded (If stuck together)
* Mayday / Pan Pan (May day can always be downgraded) Informs authority so they can start moving.
* Prevent Sparking incase of fumes
* Stability /LSA / Abandon?
* SOPEP & SOSREP -Secretary of State’s Representative for Maritime Salvage and Intervention
* Legally obligated to offer assistance to other vessel and exchange details
* Appropriate logs + evidence (VDR,CCTV, ECDIS, Witness statementsetc)
* MAIB contact ARF-1
* Chart Assessement (Positiion)
* Reference Collision check list to ensure you have not missed anything.
* Inform the master of the other vessel - Serve written notice to the master of the other vessel, holding him liable and responsible for the collision whilst not accepting any liability / responsibility.
* Post collision survey, Seaworthiness of vessel may have been invalidated.

Who is the MAIB?What do they do?
Marine Accident Investigation Branch
* It’s an independant branch within thedepartment of transport and is separate to the MCA
* SOLAS Chapter XI-1 (Enhanced Safety) discusses the duties of flag state to investigate any accidents that happen to UK vessels worldwide and to any foreign ships within territorial waters. What needs to be reported to the MAIB:
* Collsion, Grounding or Fire
* Serious injury onboard, loss of limb, partial loss of eyesight, any broken bones except fingers or toes,loss of conciousness, hospitalisation for more than 24 hours, missing work for 3 days or a dislocation.
