Reconstruction
Pneumoconiosis
abnormal condition of dust in lungs. When toxic particles become trapped in the lungs and causes symptoms and disability such as a “black lung” or “miner’s lung” disease. Terms specific to the particulate matter may be given such as asbestosis.
Asbestosis
long term inflammation and scarring of the lungs due to asbestos fibers.
Epistaxis
nosebleed
Cystic fibrosis
inheritable disease that affects the lungs and other systems producing mucous such as the digestive system. pt’s suffer frequent lung infections that are hard to treat because the mucous is thick and sluggish and result in increased scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs.
Emphysema (COPD)
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. results in progressive destruction of the air sacs in the lungs and loss of respiratory membrane for oxygen exchange. (bane of long term smokers)
Atelectasis
collapsed lung
Pulmonary angiography
special XRs of the vessels of the lungs
