respiratory Flashcards
what’s the function of the respiratory system?
what does the body exchange at every cell
the primary function of the respiratory system is to remove waste gases from your body and introduce fresh air.
after entering the lungs, oxygen travels throughout your body in the bloodstream. Your body exchanges the waste gas carbon dioxide for oxygen at every cell.
what is the two layered lining that covers the lungs
There are two lobes in the left lung and three in the right. The pleura, a two-layered lining that covers the lungs is there too.
The lungs are covered by the inner layer. The diaphragm and ribs are lined by the outer layer.
what is the structure for the airways
what type of blood is carried by the pulmonary arteries
The pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated blood and the pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood,
what is cellular respiration
There are two types of cellular respiration aerobic and anaerobic. One occurs in the presence of oxygen (aerobic), and one occurs in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic).
