Respiration And Energy Flashcards
What is respiration?
Its a chemical process that uses oxygen to produce energy.
Why do you need respiration?
1.Movement.
2.Growth/repair
3.Maintaining body temperature (keeping warm)
Where do we get glucose from?
From sugar and our food.
What is the equation for aerobic respiration?
Sugar+oxygen=Carbon dioxide+water+(energy)
Where do we get oxygen from?
We get oxygen from the atmosphere.
What are some of the cells that require energy?
1.Muscle cells.
2.Sperm cells.
What is anaerobic Respiration?
If our body needs a quick burst of energy, we use a process called anaerobic respiration.
What is oxygen debt?
When you don’t have enough oxygen.
How can you remove the oxygen debt?
You can remove the oxygen debt by taking deep breaths so that you can take more oxygen.
What causes a cramp? And how can you remove it?
While in anaerobic respiration you get lactic acid which is poison that causes cramp. You can remove it by taking more oxygen.
What causes oxygen debt?
Anaerobic respiration.
What is the equation for anaerobic respiration?
Glucose=lactic acid+energy
Which respiration does not need oxygen?
Anaerobic respiration
